Report: Sevilla strike ₦25bn deal with Venezia for Akor Adams

Italian Serie A club Venezia have agreed to a deal with Sevilla for the transfer of Super Eagles striker Akor Adams, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams has been linked with several clubs this summer, but Venezia are the ones who have made concrete moves to sign him.

They initially made a €10 million bid for the 26-year-old marksman, but that was rejected, with Los Nervionenses demanding up to €25 million. Nonetheless, they proceeded to agree on personal terms. There was also a conviction that the former Europa League champions would sell due to their need to raise money this summer.

Then, on Thursday, reports emerged that Venezia's sporting director, Filippo Antonelli, was spotted in Andalusia, Sevilla's base, to negotiate a deal. Usually, when moves like this occur, the transfer reaches a successful conclusion.

Now, the transfer has been confirmed. Early on Saturday morning, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Venezia and Sevilla had reached a €16 million (₦25bn) agreement for Adams' services.

This means that the Super Eagles striker will be travelling to Italy in the coming days for a medical and other formalities before the transfer is officially finalized.

Adams Set For Fresh Test After Sevilla

Throughout Adams' time in Europe, he has been on the move. This Venezia transfer will see him play in Italy for the first time.

He has previously played in Norway and France, so this will be the fourth European club he has played for since 2021.

At Venezia, he will face a whole new test, as the club just earned promotion to the Italian top flight and will likely face a difficult campaign. They do not have the quality to compete against most of the top-flight teams, so they will enter most of their games as second favourites.

Adams will be expected to scrap and grind out goals from nothing, and that might eventually affect him adversely.

Although he seems like a player who can adapt to the physicality and speed of Serie A, it will be interesting to see how he copes.
