The home of global pop star Rihanna in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, was hit by gunfire on Sunday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Police said officers responded to reports of shots fired around 1:15 p.m. in the Beverly Crest area, an upscale neighborhood north of Sunset Boulevard. Investigators later confirmed the house belongs to the Barbadian singer and found shell casings from what they described as an AR-15-style rifle. No one was injured.
Police said a woman believed to be in her 30s stopped outside the mansion and fired several shots, reportedly between seven and nine, toward the property before driving away. Officers later found the vehicle about eight miles away and arrested the suspect. LAPD Captain Mike Bland said officers also recovered an AR-15-style rifle. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity, and the reason for the shooting is still being investigated.
Reports say at least one bullet went through a wall of the house. Helicopter footage from local news stations showed what looked like bullet holes in the gate, while the front of the home was blocked off with yellow crime-scene tape as police examined the area.
Sources told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was inside the house when the shooting happened. She lives there with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three children: sons RZA and Riot, and a baby daughter born last September. It is not clear if anyone else was in the home at the time.
Aside from her music career, Rihanna also runs several successful businesses, including the beauty brand Fenty Beauty and a popular lingerie line. Her representatives have not yet made a public statement about the incident as police continue their investigation.
