The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death of fast-rising Fuji singer Destiny Boy, whose passing shocked fans and the music community over the weekend.

News of the 21-year-old singer’s death began circulating on social media on Sunday, sparking widespread speculation and concern. However, his mother, Saidat Adeshina, later shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death, revealing that her son had been battling a severe medical condition for about two years. According to her, Destiny Boy suffered repeated seizures during that period, a struggle the family chose to keep private.

As public interest grew, the police stepped in. In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, the Ogun State Police Command announced that it had launched a full investigation into the singer’s death and had taken one suspect into custody.

“The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy,” the statement read. “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.”

Police authorities confirmed that the case has been handed over to the SCID Homicide Section to allow for a more thorough probe. However, they declined to reveal the identity, gender, or relationship of the suspect to the late singer.
