Serie A: Torino join Inter Milan in race for Super Eagles goalkeeper

Italian Serie A side, Torino, have joined Inter Milan in the race to secure the services of Udinese and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Emilio Okoye, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old had a better second half of the season, after staying on the bench for the majority of the first half of the season. He played 22 games across all competitions for Udinese as the Little Zebras ended the season in 15th place on the Serie A table.

His impressive performances have seen him linked with a move to 2010 treble winners, Inter Milan, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

As per Mondoudinese, Ola Aina’s former club, Torino, are interested in signing Okoye, joining Inter Milan in the race for the former Bayer 04 Leverkusen goalkeeper.

Ivan Juric’s team are sweating over the future of their first-choice goalkeeper, Vanja Milinković-Savić who is of interest to several top clubs in Europe, and have identified Okoye as a possible replacement for the Serbian goalkeeper.

While there are no concrete talks yet, Okoye is said to be contemplating a move away from Udinese just after a season at the club.

A move to Inter Milan would mean the former Watford man would settle as a second-choice goalkeeper behind Switzerland’s Yann Sommer, who had an exceptional season with the Serie A Champions, keeping 25 clean sheets in 43 games for the Nerazzuri – The most by a goalkeeper in Europe.

Maduka Okoye made his Super Eagles debut on 13 October 2019, coming on as a substitute in a friendly match against Brazil that ended 1-1.
