Nigerian singer Sir Raheem, the son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has announced his decision to step away from the music industry.
The 23-year-old singer, whose real name is Raheem Okoya, made the announcement in a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday, describing the move as a “professional exit.”
Sir Raheem reflected on his musical journey, recalling how what began as a hobby with friends eventually grew into a career that saw him perform at major shows and earn recognition from some of the artists he admired while growing up.
“Over the past couple of years, my musical journey has truly been a magical one,” he wrote, expressing gratitude to his fans, colleagues and supporters.
However, he explained that balancing music with his other responsibilities had become increasingly difficult over the past year.
“I’ve always believed in giving everything my best, and I no longer feel I can give this craft the effort, patience, and dedication it truly deserves,” he said.
As a result, the singer said he had decided to stop releasing new music, adding that he owed his fans and industry colleagues a proper professional exit.
While the “Siraheem music” era may be coming to an end, Raheem stressed that his creative journey is far from over. He said he plans to explore other creative ventures and hinted that previously recorded music could still be released in the future.
“Music still remains therapeutic for me,” he said. “With time, maybe the album finds its way into the world somehow after all.”
Beyond music, Raheem has also been building a career in business. He currently serves as executive director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, a company owned by his father, Razaq Okoya.
Earlier this year, the singer revealed that he had been shadowing his father and preparing for the role since he was 13.
Despite his exit from active music releases, Raheem ended his announcement on an optimistic note, telling his supporters: “The best of me is yet to come.”
