Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen took to social media to celebrate Turkey’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The final round of qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place on Tuesday, March 31st, and Turkey was among the teams to secure their slot.
They defeated Kosovo 1-0 in Pristina to book their place in FIFA's premier tournament, courtesy of a solitary strike from Kerem Akturkoglu in the 53rd minute.
Turkey was one of four teams to secure a spot through the European playoffs on the night, alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
This qualification is a historic feat for the nation, marking their first return to the Mundial since 2002.
Turkey will now join Group D, alongside Paraguay, the USA, and Australia. With a favorable draw and a talented roster, the Turks possess the quality necessary to navigate the group stage.
Victor Osimhen Joins Turkey Celebrations
Following Turkey’s success, Victor Osimhen joined in the festivities. On his social media, he reposted a photo of his Galatasaray teammate, defender Abdulkerim Bardakci, waving the Turkish flag in celebration. Osimhen captioned the post with clapping hands and a heart emoji.
The gesture comes as no surprise, as the Super Eagles star currently plies his trade in Turkey and has been one of the league's standout performers over the past two years.
He is a massive fan favorite at Galatasaray. Recall that recently supporters unveiled a mural of the striker as a significant statement of their appreciation.
Osimhen has consistently reciprocated the love he receives from the club through his social media posts, fan interactions, and interview statements.
Currently, the 25-year-old is recovering from a hand injury, but he will be hoping to return to action soon to help Galatasaray through the final stretch of the season.
