The legal battle between Nigerian music star Davido and lawyer Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah took a dramatic turn in February following a tense court hearing in the ongoing custody dispute over his daughter, Imade. In the aftermath of the proceedings, Davido publicly announced via social media that he was withdrawing his custody application, expressing frustration over events in the courtroom. The singer accused Enedah of referencing his late son during arguments, a claim he described as a painful “low blow” and proceeded to call her out by name. However, he mistakenly tagged gospel artiste Tosin Bee in his posts, triggering a wave of online reactions that quickly escalated into intense backlash directed at the lawyer.

In a letter dated February 24, Enedah, a partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors with over 20 years of post-call experience, described Davido’s actions as libelous and deeply damaging. She argued that branding her “the worst lawyer ever” was a calculated attempt to destroy her professional reputation for simply carrying out her duties. The letter stated that the fallout has caused severe emotional distress, disrupted her legal practice, and raised fears for her safety and that of her family.

Her legal team further emphasized that custody proceedings involving a minor should not be turned into a public spectacle, warning that Davido’s comments have introduced a destabilizing element into a matter that should be guided solely by the best interests of the child.

As part of her demands, Enedah is asking the singer to immediately cease all public commentary about her and the case, issue a full retraction and apology across his verified social media platforms, publish formal apologies in at least two national newspapers, and direct his followers to stop any form of harassment. She is also seeking N1 billion in compensation, giving Davido seven days to comply or face legal action at the Lagos High Court.
