Sinners emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 32nd Annual Actors Award on Sunday night, dominating headlines at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The supernatural horror, directed by Ryan Coogler, is set in 1932 during the Jim Crow era in the Mississippi Delta and follows criminal identical twin brothers, both portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, who return to their troubled hometown only to confront a terrifying supernatural force.
Jordan’s gripping dual performance earned him the coveted Best Actor in a Leading Role award, further cementing his place among Hollywood’s elite. The film’s cast, which includes British-Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku, also clinched the award for Best Ensemble – Cast. Adding to the film’s momentum, Mosaku has secured a nomination for the 2026 Oscars in the Supporting Actress category for her role in the same project.
The ceremony, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, is widely regarded as a major precursor to the Oscars, with winners selected by fellow actors. While Sinners dominated the night, other standout performances were also honoured. Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her role in Hamnet, while Sean Penn claimed Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another.
Ryan Coogler made history at the 32nd Actor Awards (formerly the Screen Actors Guild Awards) as his vampire period drama Sinners won Best Cast Ensemble, marking his second victory in the category after Black Panther making him the first director to helm two ensemble winners. The film’s cast, including Michael B. Jordan (who also won Best Actor), Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo, triumphed over major contenders, while Sinners heads into the Oscars with a record-breaking 16 nominations, surpassing classics like Titanic and La La Land.
In the action category, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, led by Tom Cruise, won Best Stunt Ensemble – Film. On the television side, The Pitt was named Best Drama Series Ensemble, while new comedy The Studio took home Best Comedy Series Ensemble. The latter also saw individual victories, with Seth Rogen winning Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Catherine O’Hara earning Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
