Veteran Nollywood actor Saheed Balogun has been spotted alongside his former wife, actress Faithia Williams, as they paid their last respects to her late mother during a wake-keeping ceremony in Lagos. A video from the emotional gathering, which has since gone viral online, shows the former couple standing together in a sombre moment while leading family members, friends, and sympathisers to honour the late Gloria Williams, who passed away in February. The ceremony was held in Ikorodu.
Despite their separation years ago, the pair appeared united in grief as they participated in the memorial. According to family sources, the lying-in-state and interment for the late matriarch are scheduled to take place on Saturday at Ebony Vaults, located within the historic Ikoyi Cemetery. The appearance of Balogun and Williams together has drawn significant attention on social media, with many fans expressing surprise and admiration at their show of support during the difficult time.
Their public reunion is not entirely unexpected. Earlier in February, both actors sparked conversation online after exchanging warm birthday messages on social media while celebrating their shared birthday. The former couple were married for several years and share two children, a son and a daughter before officially separating in 2014. Williams continued to use the Balogun surname until 2017, when she returned to her maiden name.
Fathia Williams’ journey into acting began unexpectedly when her uncle asked her to replace an absent actress on the set of the Yoruba film Ta Lo Pa Chief, marking the start of a successful career. She has since appeared in several notable productions, including A Tribe Called Judah, Aje Meta, and Mokalik. Balogun, meanwhile, remains a respected figure in the Yoruba-language sector of Nollywood.
Interestingly, the former couple are also set to reunite professionally. They will both feature in the upcoming historical epic Efunroye: The Unicorn, where they portray key characters.
