Peace Warriors Football Club (FC) of Awka have emerged as the winners of the 2025 Tiger Street Football Tournament, which concluded at the New Berries Power Park, Okpuno Awka, Anambra State, this weekend, October 25, 2025.
The 12-man squad sealed their win with a penalty shootout, defeating the Peace Ambassadors by a 3-1 goal aggregate. Earlier in the semi-finals, Peace Warrior had forced Sunday Sparks to a draw before advancing on penalties.
Speaking after the win, team captain Achonam Ifeatu, the captain of the overall winning team, the Peace Warriors, lauded the organisers and sponsors of the Tiger Street Football Tournament for going for 5-a-side football, which he observed is a neglected area of talent identification at the grassroots, attributing the victory of his side to hard work and engagement of their previous time in the game of football.
As winners, Peace Warriors won the N5 million overall prize, and the first runners-up, the Peace Ambassadors, got N3 million, while the third- and fourth-placed teams, Peace Dominion FC and Sunday Sparks FC, got the sum of N1 million.
The finale delivered full entertainment value beyond football with Jeriq lighting up the stage and DJ sets from Wanni x Handi, DJ Snow, DJ Skyblisz and DJ Kayy. Also, award-winning actor Uzor Arukwe anchored the Uncaged Experience, doling out prizes to fans as part of unofficial post-match fanfare.
