“Very good” – Ex-Man City star praises Victor Osimhen after Galatasaray’s win at Kayserispor

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen was on the scoresheet for Galatasaray as the Turkish giants made light work of Kayserispor on Sunday night

German forward Leroy Sané marked his first Galatasaray goal with praise for new teammate Victor Osimhen after the champions dismantled Kayserispor 4-0 in the Süper Lig, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Manchester City winger, who arrived from Bayern Munich this summer, sealed the victory with a stoppage-time strike.

But his post-match words were reserved for Osimhen, who scored earlier in the evening on his first start of the season.

Victor Osimhen opened his account for the season as Galatasaray swept aside Kayserispor with a commanding 4-0 win at the Kadir Has Stadium on Sunday night.

The Nigerian striker struck in the 86th minute after latching onto Nicolò Zaniolo’s pass to put the game beyond reach. His goal followed earlier strikes from Turkish defender Evren Eren Elmalı, who scored twice, before Leroy Sané added a fourth in stoppage time.

It was a significant moment for Osimhen, whose record-breaking move from Napoli to Istanbul this summer was delayed by drawn-out negotiations. Having missed the opening fixture and come off the bench in the second, he finally marked his starting return with a decisive contribution.

Now permanently tied to the Yellow-Reds, Osimhen is expected to spearhead their attack alongside Mauro Icardi as the club eyes another successful campaign at home and in Europe.

After the win, new signing Leroy Sané praised his teammate’s quality, insisting Galatasaray now boast two elite strikers capable of leading them to glory.

“Victor (Osimhen) also scored his first goal and is a very good player,” Sané told Galatasaray’s website.

“We're gaining momentum. We have very good strikers. They're both incredibly hungry to score, possess incredible quality, and are truly experienced. That's great for the team, but we also need to gain momentum. We're getting to know each other over time and are striving for perfection.

“The Champions League is very important for the club. We want to be successful there. We need to do very well in training and in matches. We need to earn as many points as possible.”

Osimhen, 26, became a permanent signing this summer following a prolific loan spell in which he scored 37 goals and added eight assists across all competitions, firing Galatasaray to the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup titles.
