TikTok has resumed services in the United States following a promise by the U.S. president-elect, Donald Trump, to stall the enforcement of the imminent ban through an executive order upon assumption of office.

The Federal ban on TikTok arose due to national security concerns tied to the company’s Chinese owners.

This forced the platform to shut down and cease operations in the U.S. TikTok took to its official X account to thank Trump for his help getting the platform back up and running.

“In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive,” the company said.

“It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States,” the company’s statement read.

Findings show, however, that the app is still unavailable for download on Apple and Google’s stores.
