Annie Idibia, the wife of Nigerian music icon 2Baba, has shared a deeply personal experience with her fans, revealing that she suffered a miscarriage while pregnant with twins last year.
In an emotional moment during the latest episode of Young, Famous & African, the 40-year-old actress and media personality opened up about her heartbreaking loss. Despite already being a mother of two, Annie explained that the miscarriage was a difficult blow, one that left her struggling to cope.
“I was pregnant with twins but I had a miscarriage,” Annie shared on the reality TV show. “It was hard, even though I already have two children. Losing that pregnancy hit me really hard.”
Annie admitted that she found it challenging to discuss her grief with others, keeping the painful experience mostly to herself. “I wish I had someone in this group to tell me I’m pregnant… I would be having a baby, and then we lost that,” she added. “I wasn’t sure if I could share this with any of my friends. It’s only Innocent [her husband] and my mom who knew about it.”
The miscarriage occurred during the course of the past year, a time when Annie kept her emotions largely private, even within the close-knit group of celebrities featured on Young, Famous & African. The show’s third season premiered on January 17 on Netflix, marking Annie’s third consecutive season as part of the cast.
The reality series, which debuted in 2022, follows a group of prominent African celebrities from various industries, including music, media, and fashion, as they navigate their high-profile lives. It has become a cultural hit, but not without controversy. In April 2024, Annie’s daughter, Isabel, said that her parents were “portrayed wrongly” on the show.
