Victor Osimhen transfer saga: How Arsenal decided against signing Super Eagles striker

English Premier League giants rejected an opportunity to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the just-concluded summer transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles striker Osimhen dominated most of the summer transfer talks following his impressive performances for Napoli in the past three seasons.

The 25-year-old striker could have left the Partenopeans two seasons ago, but Napoli convinced him to stay and sign a contract extension with the promise that he would be able to leave this summer.

Unfortunately for him, he failed to get his move as he offers he got were either unsatisfactory for him or Napoli. Osimhen even held serious talks with Chelsea, but the talks fell through because the Blues were offering him a pay that was far less than his current pay at Napoli.

Osimhen has now signed for reigning Turkish Super Lig Champions Galatasaray on a four-month transfer.

But in a new development, per Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen was offered to Arsenal for €120-€130million, but the Gunners refused to sign him.

Recall that there were reports that the Gunners wanted to sign a new striker in the summer, but they eventually decided against it even though Osimhen was offered to them.

They could still decide to make a u-turn though if they have issues with Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz. Osimhen is going to be available again in January at €75 million, and that would be a good fee for top clubs that would be interested in signing him.
