“He’s a bit undisciplined” – Ex-Napoli man convinced Victor Osimhen can benefit from working with Antonio Conte

Former Napoli defender Alessandro Renica believes Victor Osimhen’s disciplinary record can improve under the management of manager Antonio Conte, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has somehow taken on the cloak of a bad boy following documented bust-ups with a couple of his former coaches and teammates.

Recently, the Nigeria international went on social media to publicly vent his frustration against former Super Eagles head coach George Finidi.

However, he is presently working with a new manager at Napoli in Conte, who has a reputation for tolerating no nonsense.

While Osimhen continues to be linked with a move away to Saudi Arabia, England, or France, the Super Eagles striker could end up staying in Naples if no suitor meets Napoli’s transfer demands.

Renica, who won two Serie A titles with Napoli, is convinced that Osimhen can become an even better person and player after Conte is done with him.

“Osimhen? Conte’s authority can do him good, given that he is a bit undisciplined,” Renica said as per Tutto Napoli. “If he were to stay, it would be a great championship with Conte. In any case, we are talking about a top player.”

Reports from Italy continue to suggest that Romelu Lukaku is Conte’s preferred choice of striker should Osimhen leave the Diego Maradona Stadium.

However, Renica insists Osimhen is a better forward than the Belgian and the Nigerian is only pressed to leave because Napoli want to balance the books.

Renica noted, “It seems to me that ADL is making a great effort. I think that, after these expenses, the renewal of Kvara and perhaps the permanence of Osimhen, who for me is stronger than Lukaku, will also have to look a bit at the budget. If some players leave, maybe someone of quality will arrive.”

Osimhen fired 17 goals and added four assists across all competition for Napoli last term and he remains top on the transfer list of PSG.
