Dessers just joined Cremonese last summer, but he could move on the move very soon
Scottish Premiership club Rangers are on the brink of signing Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers from Cremonese, Soccernet.ng reports.
Dessers joined Cremonese from Belgian Jupiler League side Genk last summer. The Grigiorossi, who just gained promotion to the Serie A paid €6.5million for the services of the 28-year-old hitman.
Unfortunately for the Leuven-born star, he was unable to help Cremonese avoid relegation. He recorded six goals and two assists in 26 appearances for the Grigiorossi. But they could only finish 19th in the Italian top flight after picking just five wins from 38 games.
Following Cremonese’s relegation to Serie B, Dessers has been heavily linked with a transfer to former Scottish Premiership side Rangers.
Soccernet.ng reported earlier that the Grigiorossi were unwilling to accept any offer of less than €6.5million. However, Goal now reports that Rangers and Cremonese are close to reaching a conclusion for Dessers’ transfer.
The deal is expected to be worth €5million. And because he would be one of Rangers’ most expensive signings, it would be a three-year contract at least.
