Martins and Mercedes have become the first housemates to leave the 2026 edition of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) ‘Show Ya Sef’, after securing the lowest number of votes from viewers.
The pair were evicted during Sunday night’s live show, bringing their journey in the reality competition to an end just two weeks after the season premiered.
The eviction followed a tense week in the Big Brother house, after housemates were given the power to save three fellow contestants each.
The four housemates who received the highest number of saves were initially declared safe from eviction. However, Head of House Sheba later used her privilege to rescue Chimsom Chuka, replacing him with Cassi, who had originally been among the top four saved housemates.
As a result, Tram, Barry, Goddessa and Chimsom secured immunity for the week, while the remaining 19 housemates were placed on the eviction list.
Martins and Mercedes ultimately received the lowest votes from the viewing public and were sent packing during the live eviction show.
The 2026 season premiered on July 26 with 24 housemates battling for the coveted grand prize. The eventual winner is set to walk away with N160 million, the biggest prize in the history of BBNaija since the reality show debuted in 2006.
Meanwhile, Flora and Aikou were recently named “The Gambits” of the season. Although they will remain in the house until the finale, the twist means they are no longer eligible to compete for the N160 million grand prize.
With the first eviction now out of the way, the pressure is expected to intensify as the remaining housemates fight to win over viewers and secure their place in the competition.
