Chocolate City has filed a ₦50 million lawsuit against Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck following allegations that one of the label’s employees was assaulted during the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos.
The suit, filed before the High Court of Lagos State by the label’s Project Manager and Public Relations Officer, relates to an incident said to have occurred backstage at the Eko Convention Centre on December 22, 2025, while the claimant was carrying out official duties for a Chocolate City artist scheduled to perform.
According to court documents, the claimant was backstage alongside the artist, members of the artist’s security team, event security personnel, and a bouncer when Odumodublvck allegedly approached him and asked whether he or his brother worked at Chocolate City. The claimant alleges that, without provocation, the rapper struck him in the face, pushed him aggressively, and issued threatening remarks.
The filing further claims that despite attempts by security personnel to calm the situation, Odumodublvck allegedly continued making threats, including saying he would “end” the claimant. It also alleges that one of the rapper’s associates, identified as “Shagba,” poured an alcoholic drink on the claimant during the confrontation.
According to the suit, the incident caused panic backstage, forcing security officials to evacuate the claimant and his team to a safer location. The claimant says he sustained facial and neck injuries, recurring headaches, body pain, and psychological trauma, receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). He also claims he was advised to suspend work while recovering.
The claimant is seeking ₦50 million in damages, stating he incurred about ₦4.5 million in medical and related expenses, lost professional opportunities, and missed an overseas work trip with a Chocolate City artist due to the incident.
Chocolate City confirmed it is backing its employee and has commenced legal proceedings, stating that the health, safety, and welfare of its staff remain a top priority. The label said it is committed to pursuing the matter through the appropriate legal channels.
At the time of publication, Odumodublvck had not publicly responded to the lawsuit. The allegations remain before the court, and no findings have been made regarding the claims.
The latest lawsuit adds to a string of legal disputes involving the rapper. Earlier this month, fellow Chocolate City artist Blaqbonez filed a ₦2billion defamation lawsuit against Odumodublvck over a series of social media posts in which he allegedly described the rapper as a “sexual abuser.” Blaqbonez’s legal team is seeking damages, a public apology, the removal of the posts, and an injunction preventing further similar statements. Odumodublvck has denied wrongdoing and has publicly maintained his claims, while the allegations remain unproven and before the courts.
The new case involving Chocolate City further intensifies the ongoing tensions between Odumodublvck, the label, and its artists, with multiple legal battles now unfolding simultaneously. As both matters proceed through the courts, no judicial findings have yet been made against any of the parties involved.
