Dave, a British rapper and songwriter, has always added a Nigerian vibe to his music, particularly with the careful collaborations on his studio albums.
Born David Orobosa Michael Omoregi, Dave combines UK rap with the sound of Afrobeats and works with Nigerian artists on his album to celebrate his roots and create a sound that connects both music genres.
It’s been four years since Dave’s last studio album, We’re All Alone In This Together (2021), and now he’s returning with his third studio album, The Boy Who Played the Harp, set to release on October 24, 2025. The album features British singer James Blake, Nigerian star Tems, UK rap legend Kano, and rising artist Jim Legxacy.
The official tracklist includes: “History” featuring James Blake, “175 Months,” “No Weapons” featuring Jim Legxacy, “Chapter 16” featuring Kano, “Raindance” featuring Tems, “Selfish” featuring James Blake, “My 27th Birthday,” “Marvellous,” “Fairchild,” and the title track “The Boy Who Played the Harp.”
Dave’s first album, Psychodrama (2019), introduced him as a lyricist. It also marked the start of his musical connection with Nigeria, with the hugely popular single “Location” featuring Burna Boy and produced by Jae5. The song blended UK rap and Afro-fusion and became a major hit globally.
His second album, We’re All Alone In This Together (2021), built even further on this connection. He worked with Wizkid on “System” and BOJ on “Lazarus,” showing not just a love for big names but a deep respect for the variety and richness of Nigeria’s music scene. The album also featured songs like “Clash” with Stormzy, “In the Fire” with Fredo, Meekz, Ghetts, and Giggs, “Law of Attraction” with Snoh Aalegra, and “Both Sides of a Smile” with James Blake.
In 2025, his upcoming album is expected to take that Nigerian influence to a new level. One of the most anticipated songs features Tems, known for her soulful voice and emotional depth.
Over the years, Dave has worked with some of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, BOJ, Oxlade on the track “Intoxycated,” Tems, and BNXN on “Propeller” with JAE5. What makes these collaborations stand out is how real and meaningful they are. These aren’t just chart-chasing features; they feel personal and intentional.
From Burna Boy’s energy to BOJ’s alternative style to Wizkid’s smooth delivery to Tems’ Soulful melody, Dave isn’t just featuring Nigerian stars; he’s creating music that connects the soul of UK rap with the heartbeat of Nigerian sound.
