Nigerian socialite Pretty Mike, whose legal name is Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following a raid on his nightclub, Proxy Lagos, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The socialite is among over 100 suspects taken into custody on Sunday morning for alleged “possession of illicit substances.”
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesperson, confirmed the arrests, stating that the operation was initiated based on intelligence regarding an alleged drug party at the venue. NDLEA officers commenced their surveillance at 11 pm on Saturday and moved to disrupt the gathering around 3 am on Sunday.
During the raid, authorities recovered cartons of illicit substances, including “loud” (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas, from the suspects and the club’s storage area.
Pretty Mike, known for his controversial and elaborate stunts at social events, is currently being held in custody for “screening” as the investigation into his actions continues. In 2017, Pretty Mike was detained by Lagos State security officials for degrading young girls.
