The highly acclaimed YouTube series, My Tasty Naija, is making a significant leap from the digital screen to a vibrant real-world experience with its inaugural My Tasty Naija Food Festival.
Scheduled for Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Chingford Rugby Club in London, this event promises to be a grand celebration of Nigerian-African culinary culture.
What began in January 2024 as a captivating digital exploration of Nigerian cuisine has rapidly evolved into a powerful cultural movement. Conceived by British-Nigerian media entrepreneur and cultural advocate Abass Tijani (DJ Abass), the My Tasty Naija YouTube show has become a pivotal platform for showcasing the rich and diverse tapestry of Nigerian food, not just across the UK but globally.
The series has taken viewers on an exciting gastronomic journey, from uncovering the best suya spots in Peckham to highlighting jollof specialists in Wembley. A particularly memorable episode saw the My Tasty Naija team travel to Manchester to feature Yetti’s Kitchen. Founded by Chef Yetti Tabai, one of the few Nigerian chefs holding an in-flight catering license, the segment spectacularly showcased the sophistication and elevation of Nigerian cuisine, even aboard a private jet flight from Manchester to Glasgow.
My Tasty Naija’s reach has also extended internationally, with features filmed at renowned locations such as Kunle Afolayan’s Afefeyeye Restaurant in Nigeria and Enish Dubai, unequivocally demonstrating that Nigerian food transcends geographical boundaries.
