Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman will miss Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona and several Serie A fixtures after sustaining a knee injury in training, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman was superb for Atalanta last season, and he has continued with those impressive performances this season.
The Super Eagles star has been important for La Dea, registering 14 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.
Amid his impressive performances, he has been linked with a transfer to other top European clubs, such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Still, nothing serious has emerged from those speculations.
Meanwhile, Atalanta’s next game is a UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
La Dea must win this game to maintain their place in the automatic qualification spots. Lookman would have been a major protagonist for Atalanta.
Unfortunately, in a new development, per Fabrizio Romano, Lookman has sustained a knee injury and will be unavailable for the Barcelona game. He is also expected to be out for a significant time due to the injury.
