Ola Aina’s former coach, Ivan Juric, who has now taken the reins at Southampton, has shared his expectations for Super Eagles duo Paul Onuachu, Joe Aribo, and the rest of the squad, Soccernet.ng reports.
After a disappointing return to the Premier League, which left Southampton languishing at the bottom of the table, the club parted ways with Russell Martin following a heavy 5-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur that only deepened their struggles.
With the club fighting to avoid relegation, Juric is focused on unlocking the potential of his players and guiding them to a successful finish to the season.
Since arriving in 2022, both Aribo and Onuachu have faced instability, having worked under seven different managers. Despite the uncertainty, the Super Eagles duo will be hoping the new manager’s approach will bring positive results.“I want us to be more aggressive, to press more, and we must quickly adapt our mentality because this is my philosophy of football,” Juric said, as quoted by the club’s official site.
Meanwhile, Onuachu, who has been linked with a move away from Southampton, could find himself at a crossroads.
Turkish Super Lig sides Besiktas and Trabzonspor are both reportedly interested in securing the striker’s services, but his future may be tied to Juric’s plans. The towering forward, whose contract runs until June 2026, may be compelled to respect the club’s decisions and remain in England for the time being.
