Renowned Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has shared a candid revelation about her approach to relationships, stating that infidelity has never been a reason for her to end a romantic partnership.
In an honest and emotional interview on The Receipts Podcast, the 44-year-old artist disclosed that every man she has been with has cheated on her at some point. Despite this, she explained that she always chose forgiveness, as cheating is not a deal-breaker for her.
“I have been cheated on before. I found out and forgave every time,” Savage admitted. “Every man I have ever been with has cheated, and I’ve never left them because of it. I’ve left for other reasons, but not because they cheated. Cheating is not my hill.”
However, the global music icon emphasized that her tolerance has its limits. She explained that while she might overlook the act of infidelity, what truly hurts her is the disrespect surrounding it.
“What hurts is the lies about it,” she said. “Maybe other people had known and then I kind of felt stupid about it, or they’ve known for a long time, or if it’s close to home. The disrespect of it is why I could leave, but the actual act of it? I’ve never left a man because of it.”
Savage revealed that the reasons for her breakups have been far more complex, including issues such as drug abuse, emotional neglect, ghosting, financial mismanagement, and even theft.
“I’ve left for so many other reasons like drug abuse, emotional abuse, being ghosted, stealing, and financial things. But that cheating thing, nah,” she added.
Reflecting on societal norms, Savage acknowledged the broader issue of how infidelity is perceived in relationships. “It’s bad that we’ve gotten to a point where cheating isn’t a deal-breaker. But I feel like we’ve always been here even back in the day, even going back to the Bible and history.”
Known for her chart-topping hits and trailblazing career, Tiwa Savage has solidified her status as a leading figure in the global music scene.
