Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has taken to social media to unleash a scathing critique of his colleague Jim Iyke, accusing the veteran actor of lacking professionalism and authenticity. The fiery remarks were shared on Instagram on December 23, 2024.
Okeke didn’t hold back, branding Iyke a “small boy” and questioning his acting credentials in a series of posts laced with sharp commentary.
“I’ve met some really SOLID individuals. While I’ve also met some phoney-ass peeps. Like that Jim Iyke guy who wants to be a goldfish, but has no sense of character. Small boy to me, small boy,” Okeke wrote, adding a string of biting critiques.
“If only Jim Iyke could ACT! He would have been an actor. But sorry… he’s a phoney-ass kneegar. Matter of fact? He’s a SMALL BOY TO ME. FAKE AMERICAN ACCENT. FAKE EVERYTHING. Small boy!!!”
The fallout appears to have been triggered by an incident on the set of a production spearheaded by Jim Iyke. According to Okeke, the production left him with injuries that required medical attention, including stitches.
In another post, Okeke elaborated, “For the benefit of clarity, for the benefit of my new employers, my supporters, and the new year coming… Jnr Pope is one death too many in this business, and that only happened this year, 2024. Had I gotten anything more than these 2 stitches on the set of Jim Iyke’s production, y’all would still call me a fool, I guess.”
The actor emphasized his commitment to ensuring workplace safety in Nollywood, hinting that the incident was a wake-up call. “It’s taken three whole months to heal from that, and still… I am committed to ensuring safety at the Nollywood workplace.”
Okeke’s posts suggest he holds Iyke accountable for the lack of safety measures during the production, alleging that the actor has evaded responsibility. “Sometimes I’ve asked myself, WHY WAS IT ME WHO GOT HURT? I guess it’s so that NOBODY ELSE gets to take one for the team. But Jim Iyke is running. SMALL BOY!!!!!”
