Victor Osimhen: Galatasaray target €55m Liverpool star as backup plan to Super Eagles forward

Galatasaray are reportedly preparing an ambitious move for Liverpool’s star winger Mohamed Salah as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, should the Nigerian striker depart following his loan spell, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to reports, the Turkish club has identified Salah as a top target to strengthen their attacking lineup if Osimhen’s stay proves short-lived.

Galatasaray’s current strike force, featuring former Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi and Osimhen, is among the most dynamic in Europe.

Since joining from Napoli on a season-long loan, Osimhen has quickly become a fan favourite in Istanbul.

The Super Eagles striker has made an immediate impact, scoring four goals and contributing four assists in just seven appearances.

His performances have ignited passion among Galatasaray fans, who have even incorporated chants for him into wedding celebrations.

Despite Galatasaray’s enthusiasm to make Osimhen’s move permanent, the prospect is uncertain.

The 24-year-old remains a highly coveted player, with top clubs from Europe and Saudi Arabia, including Chelsea and Al Hilal, closely monitoring his availability.

If Osimhen chooses to pursue a new challenge elsewhere, Galatasaray are reportedly prepared to redirect their focus to Salah as a marquee signing.

The Liverpool winger, valued at €55 million, continues to deliver at a high level, netting eight goals and providing seven assists across 14 games this season.

However, with Salah’s contract at Anfield due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, his future remains uncertain.

Although Liverpool may wish to extend his stay, the 32-year-old Egyptian is also attracting serious interest from the Saudi Pro League, which could draw him away from European football.

If Osimhen’s exit becomes permanent, Galatasaray is expected to make an attractive offer to Salah, hoping to lure the prolific forward to the Turkish Süper Lig.
