Nigeria 5-0 United Kingdom: Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi ruthless in culture clash – WATCH

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has declared his unwavering love for Nigerian culture, boldly asserting its superiority over that of the United Kingdom, where he has been based for over two and a half years, Soccernet.ng reports.

Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest in 2022 from Union Berlin on a five-year deal, for his second spell in England. The 26-year-old first arrived in the country in 2015 to join Liverpool after starring in Nigeria’s victorious U17 World Cup campaign with the Golden Eaglets.

Despite his long-standing connection with England, Awoniyi remains deeply rooted in his Nigerian heritage.

During a “Culture Clash” True-or-False game session with Livescore, Awoniyi confidently gave Nigeria a resounding 5-0 victory over the UK.

He was tasked with comparing various cultural elements of both nations, and the results were unequivocally in favour of his homeland.

Awoniyi emphatically declared that Nigeria offers better food than the UK and praised the country’s music scene, naming hip-hop maestro Olamide as his favourite Nigerian artist.

He also dismissed the notion that the UK boasts superior football legends, calling it a “false” statement.

The striker didn’t stop there.

He rated Nigeria higher in terms of weather, humorously labeling the UK’s claim to better weather as “a big false.”

For Awoniyi, who has also played in Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, Nigeria remains his favourite holiday destination.

With Nigeria already leading 4-0 on his “scorecard,” Awoniyi delivered the final blow, selecting his home country as having the superior fashion culture.

When asked who had the “best drip” in the Super Eagles squad, Awoniyi answered with a bit of hesitation: “Victor Osimhen.”

However, Awoniyi will hope to rediscover his own flair on the pitch as he searches for his first Premier League goal of the season.

The Forest forward has gone eight league matches without scoring this term, a stark contrast to last season when he netted six goals in 20 league appearances.
