The former Nigerian international remains a respected figure all over the world years after retiring from active football

Nigerian legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha is set to join some of the world’s greatest footballers in history at the “Match of Legends” in Colombia this weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.

The “Match of Legends” is organised to pit legends of football worldwide against the heroes of the game in Colombia.

Okocha will represent the World Legends alongside former Paris Saint Germain teammates Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Barcelona great Rivaldo, former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder and ex-Manchester United ace Juan Veron.

Colombia Legends will have in attendance iconic football figures like René Higuita, Camilo Zúñiga, Leonel Álvarez, Aldo Leao Ramírez, and Choronta Restrepo, among others.

According to Qhubo Medellin, the match, which will be one of the biggest sporting events ever witnessed in Colombia, will be played at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin on Saturday, December 16.

Regarded as one of the greatest African playmakers of all time, Okocha continues to soar in importance and popularity years after his retirement.

The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder was invited to the ‘The Beautiful Game’ Charity match in Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium earlier this year, where he wowed Ronaldinho and thousands of fans.

During a successful playing career, Okocha defended the colours of Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerberhce, PSG, Bolton Wanderers, and Hull City.

He was also a big part of the Nigerian national team for over 15 years, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
