Napoli won the league last season, but so far this season, have struggled to match up to the form they displayed last season, causing displeasure amongst fans.
Napoli coach, Walter Mazzarri has maintained that he saw positive signs in his team’s game despite their loss to Juventus last night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Last season Scudetto winners have struggled to replicate the form that saw them brush aside big Italian teams last term and have won just one of their past five games.
In yesterday’s game, Napoli could have easily travelled back to Naples with three points from the Allianz Arena in Turin but were simply not clinical enough, and Mazzarri highlighted that he cannot fault the team’s effort.
Victor Osimhen scored what he thought was the equalizer, but the linesman’s flag cut his hopes short, meanwhile, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed a golden chance as well.
Speaking in his post-match presser, the 62-year-old Italian praised Gli Azzurri’s display and claimed it is a step in the right direction.
“Our only fault was not covering that cross and we lost the man in the box. Napoli tried everything, these things happen. I am convinced that if we play like this, we will have a run of positive results and climb the table,” the manager said in quotes revealed by Football Italia.
The coach added that his team might be out of luck in front of goal, but believes his team will get results in the long run.
“I have seen a team that always played good football, better than the opposition, but we don’t seem to be able to score goals. If we do not score that Kvara chance, it is a clear sign we are in a negative period. I believe if we continue like this, with important players rediscovering full fitness and sharpness, we will certainly get results,” He added.
Napoli will be hoping to turn their poor run of form that has seen them lose four of their last five games around when they face Braga in their final Champions League group stage frame.
