Tanzania 12-0 Djibouti: Twiga Stars set up clash with Nigeria’s Falconets in FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup qualifiers

Tanzania’s U20 Women’s national team has earned the opportunity to face Nigeria in the third round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers, Soccernet.ng reports.

The East Africans triumphed 12-0 on aggregate over Djibouti in the second round to secure their place in the next phase with a resounding victory.

Tanzania displayed dominance on the pitch on Wednesday to orchestrate a staggering 7-0 away win over Djibouti in the second leg of the qualifier.

This victory, combined with their 5-0 win in the first leg on Wednesday, culminated in a commanding 12-0 aggregate scoreline.

Jamila Rajabu, who had previously scored a brace in the first leg, continued her impressive performance against Djibouti, securing another brace for Tanzania.

Winifrida Gerald, who had contributed a goal in the first leg, mirrored this feat by also notching a brace.

Yasinta Joseph, who had found the back of the net in the initial encounter, sealed the comprehensive victory with the final goal, following Diana Mnally and Zainab Ally’s earlier contributions.

The Twiga Stars will now trade tackles with Nigeria’s Falconets for a place in the fourth round of the U20 World Cup qualifiers.

The upcoming third-round qualifier between Nigeria and Tanzania is scheduled for November 10-12, 2023.

Additionally, the second leg of this anticipated encounter will take place between November 17-19, 2023.

The Falconets have qualified for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and have been runners-up twice, losing to Germany in both 2010 and 2014.
