“Extraordinary” – Barcelona great hails Victor Osimhen as key to Napoli’s historic Serie A campaign

Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov has hailed Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as the key to the club’s historic Serie A outing this season.

Stoichkov, who played for Barcelona and the Bulgarian national team, spoke to the Gazzetta dello Sport about the Nigerian striker’s contribution to Napoli’s success.

Luciano Spalletti’s men have played fantastic football this season and are on the verge of winning a historic Scudetto, with Osimhen playing a crucial role in their success. The former Lille striker has scored 26 goals across all competitions this season, including 21 in Serie A.

And according to Stoichkov, Osimhen’s performances have been “extraordinary” this season and have been instrumental in helping Napoli compete for the Scudetto.

He praised the 24-year-old’s work rate and ability to score important goals, which has helped Napoli maintain their position at the top of the table.

What was said?

Stoichkov said, “Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli, who are no longer in the Champions League because they were eliminated in the quarterfinals against Milan, have played fantastic football this season and are about to win a historic Scudetto thanks also to an extraordinary striker like Osimhen.”

The Bulgarian legend’s comments come at a time when Osimhen’s performances have attracted the attention of several top clubs across Europe.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United have been linked with the striker in recent times, with reports suggesting that they could make a move for him in the summer transfer window.

Napoli, however, are determined to keep hold of their star striker and build their team around him for the future. The club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has repeatedly stated that Osimhen is not for sale and is a key part of Napoli’s plans for the future.

With Napoli on the brink of winning their first Serie A title since 1990, the club’s fans will hope that Osimhen can continue his impressive form and help them secure the Scudetto.
