Runtown, whose real name is Douglas Jack Agu, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer who rose to fame with his hit single “Gallardo” featuring Davido in 2014.
Since then, he has continued to churn out hits after hits and has gained a reputation as one of the most consistent and versatile musicians in Nigeria.
Some of his hits songs includes, “Mad Over You“, “Said“, “Energy”, “Bend Down Pause“, “International Badman Killa“, “If E Happen for Lagos” and many more.
However, after the release of his fifth studio project, “$IGNS” last year, Runtown has been relatively quiet on the Nigerian music scene. This has left many fans wondering if he is still the same Soundgod they all know and love.
It is important to note that Runtown has always been known for his unique sound and style. He has never been one to follow trends or conform to industry norms. Instead, he has always carved out his own path, creating music that is not only commercially successful but also timeless.
While his last album, “$IGNS“, did not make the impact many had hoped for, it is important to remember that success in the music industry is not always measured by commercial success. Sometimes, an album’s impact can be felt years after its release.
It is also worth noting that Runtown has been involved in various projects outside of music, including his own record label, Soundgod Music Group, and his philanthropic efforts, which include a partnership with the Youth Emerging Stronger (YES) initiative to empower young people in Nigeria.
So, where is Runtown again? While it may seem like he has taken a step back from the limelight, it is important to remember that the music industry is constantly evolving, and artists need time to grow and evolve with it.
That being said, Runtown needs to know, new artistes are emerging everyday and even the Dons(Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide….) are not relaxed because they know nobody reigns forever.
We can say Runtown is still the same Soundgod we all know and love. He may be taking some time to regroup and work on new projects, but fans can rest assured that he will be back with more great music soon. It is only a matter of time before we hear from him again, and when we do, it is sure to be worth the wait.
